Who Can Apply to Be a Rape Crisis Counselor?
It is not necessary for you to have prior counseling experience or any particular licenses or degrees. Thorough preparation is provided during the training. Our current volunteer pool includes people from all walks of life and personal backgrounds who share a deep commitment to supporting rape survivors and working to end sexual violence. We accept people of all genders in the counselor training. We do require you must be over 18 to be a volunteer. And we encourage men who want to work with male survivors and significant others to apply for this training/volunteer opportunity. What’s the Training Like? This 11-week training course is held from 6:00pm – 9:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Our next training begins in June, 2011.
