Who can apply for a marriage certificate?
Those applying for a marriage certificate must ensure that the aforementioned information be provided exactly as it is recorded on the marriage registration or the certificate will not be issued. Other required information includes: • Name, address and telephone number of applicant must be provided. • Relationship to person named on certificate and reason for requesting a certificate. • Method of payment: cash, cheque, money order, debit card, visa (expiry date) The following may apply for a marriage certificate: • Person named on the certificate • A person on the authorization in writing of the person named in the certificate or spouse of the person named in the certificate • A lawyer acting for the person(s) named in the certificate(must have written authorization or proof of retainer). • A court order Current Fee Schedule The following is the current fee schedule to obtain marriage certificates.
