Who can administer or control a war memorial repair fund?
This is governed by the requirement for a war memorial repair fund to be a public fund. A public fund must be administered or controlled by persons or institutions who, because of their tenure of some public office or their position in the community, have a degree of responsibility to the public. Examples include judges, members of the clergy, school principals, solicitors and other professional people, mayors, councillors, town clerks, members of parliament and doctors. The public fund requirement is explained further in our publication GiftPack for deductible gift recipients & donors (NAT 3132).
