Anyone can access a needle exchange program. It is strongly recommended that needles are returned when they are taken out, to ensure that used needles are disposed of safely. Needle exchange programs also provide other sterile equipment, such as alcohol swabs and tourniquets. In Kingston, the Street Health Centre has a needle exchange program, and one is also provided by the public health unit in Brockville.
