Who built the first spin dry washing machine and when and were?

My parents purchased an EASY SPIN DRIER machine in the mid 50’s. One side was the washer with an agitator. The other side was the spinner which had a faucet that fit over a hole in the lid. You put your clean, wet, soapy clothes in, put the lid on and turned the handle on. The clothes spun the excess water out. Then you turned on the water (usually cold) as it was spinning. The water spun through the clothing, rinsing out the soap. When you figured the soap was out, you turned off the water and let it spin for a minute or two to get as much water out of your clothing as possible. I believe this was the prelude to automatic washers. Don’t know who built it or when but it was a new thing in the 50’s.
