Free trade and globalization has had tremendous benefits for many people in the developing world assuming that moving to cities, often working in factories, working for money rather than growing one’s own food, and having electricity, piped water, computers, and other modern amenities is good. There is some criticism that globalization is forcing people out of their sustainable farms, which despite having poor living conditions nor modern products, is better for the people. Thus, the perceived advantages of globalization are not really benefits. However, as an American in the 21st century, I must assume that even though many people can no longer grow their own food, they and their children will have better lives being part of modern civilization: likely working in cities, making money, and having access to information, technology, etc. In my opinion, if anyone is reaping the rewards of globalization and free trade, it is the people of developing nations that now have access to the rest
