Who arranges crating of the animal and application of the seal?
A12. If you are flying directly to the UK from one of the Long Haul countries, the airline will make the arrangements. You will need to advise the airline when you book your ticket that you wish to transport an animal and that it needs to travel in a container to which an official seal of the exporting country has been applied. The seal needs to be applied by a government official e.g. customs officer or immigration officer. You will probably be expected to bear any costs. Where the journey is more complicated you will generally have to make these arrangements yourself with the authorities in the country from which you are travelling.
