Who are the tories, someone tell me?
I’m from the UK so I can answer that. The Tories is another name for the British Conservative Party. They are centre right and conservative. Labour are their main rivals, the Labour Party used to be fairly left wing but is now closer to the centre economically, and fairly authoritarian and, in my opinion, nasty. After the Irish ratified the Lisbon Treaty it still has to be okayed by Poland and the Czech Republic. If the heads of state of both these countries OK it then the Lisbon treaty will be adopted and one of the things that treaty does is create a position of European President. The President will serve one five year term and be chosen by the heads of state of the 27 EU members.
