Who are the Student Hosts? What do they do?
Most of the Student Hosts are British, and most are either in the Sixth Form at Wellington School or have left recently and are studying at universities. They are chosen for their friendly character. Their job is to become friends with all the overseas students, and to provide plenty of opportunities for you to speak English outside of the classes, in informal settings. They are on duty from about 4-10 p.m. and all day on Sundays or on Cultural Visits. They will join in some conversation classes; have meals with you; play and teach some of the sports classes; arrange the social activities; help you every evening during the supervised homework sessions; help in the writing and production of our course Newspaper; and ‘hang out’ with you in the evenings. They are a very successful feature of our courses and they really help you to relax and enjoy your life during the summer.
