Who are the New Malthusians and the Anti-Malthusians?
The New Malthusians are concerned with current growth rates. According to them, the world supply of food may not be enough to sustain the world population when the latter is increasing so fast. About 400, 000 people are born every day. But there are only 140,000 deaths. This leads to a net increase of 242,000. With the world population doubling about every 40 years, the New Malthusians claim that the population bomb is an urgent problem that needs to be addressed.
