Who are the MA TESOL and MA TESOL & Applied Linguistics for?
The MA TESOL is mainly intended for students who are at the very early stage of a career in language teaching. You may have little or no experience as a language teacher, but you know what you want to do and why, and you have already made some attempt to get started. You will probably have had some experience of learning a second language. Or you may have had more experience in language teaching but may not be familiar with the communicative approach, or may wish to improve your knowledge and practical skills of communicative language teaching. The MA Applied Linguistics & TESOL is intended for students who are committed to a language teaching career, with at least two years classroom teaching experience. You may have already taken a Certificate or Diploma course, and now wish to explore theoretical principles and research-based knowledge in the field, develop as a teacher, and extend your knowledge of language and applied linguistics.
