Who are the local community heroes who give Glasgow its Northern soul?
Today we launch our campaign to uncover the unsung neighbourhood champs striving to make a difference in the Maryhill, Kelvin and Canal area. And there’s just 11 days in which to nominate the individuals, groups, public service workers and charities who deserve a big thank you for their efforts. So far, the second year of the Glasgow Community Champion Awards has focused on people living or working in the South, East and West of the city. Now we need you to tell us about those making a difference in Maryhill, Lambhill, Milton, Summerston, Ruchill, Possilpark, Kelvindale, Kelvinside, Parkhouse and Colston. We’ve split the city into 10 areas, and are hosting a local awards ceremony in each of these areas to hand out trophies across six award categories. The events are free to attend, so everyone is welcome along to Maryhill Community Central Hall at 304 Maryhill Road on Thursday, February 18, to cheer on the North’s battalion of local heroes.
