Who are the leaders in the sweat lodge?
Leadership in the lodge is provided by Earthtribe elders who go through an eight-year process of training as pipe carriers. Honorary pipe carriers also provide leadership. There are usually two pipe carriers in each lodge. Leadership tends to gravitate toward those who do the hard work of preparing the lodges, cutting the wood, and who make this a consistent practice.
