Who are the Jews for Jesus?
Jews for Jesus is an evangelical Christian organization with approximately 100 employees. It is based in San Francisco but has several branches throughout the United States as well as in a number of other countries. Its purpose is to bring the message of believing in Jesus as the Messiah to the Jewish people. For more information see their web site. The development of Jews for Jesus can be found in several books, including two officially sanctioned “histories” that were authorized by the organization: Jews for Jesus by Moishe Rosen with William Proctor (1974), and Not Ashamed: The Story of Jews for Jesus by Ruth Tucker (1999). In addition, two more “scholarly” studies have been published on Jews for Jesus: Jews for Jesus: Organizational Structure and Supporters by Donald R. La Magdeleine (1977), and Jews for Jesus: An Anthropological Study by Juliene G. Lipson (1990).
