The pairings for the first round of competition in the 2009 Presidents Cup at Harding Park were announced today, and team USA is set to take on the International team starting at 12:10p.m. Pacific time on Thursday. USA team captain Fred Couples and International captain Greg Norman threw few curve balls in their first round of pairings. The Presidents Cup differs from the Ryder Cup in that there is much more drama surrounding the announcement of the pairings. Instead of both captains simply announcing their full list of pairings and seeing how they match up, Norman announced his first pair and Couples responded. Then Norman announced his second pairing and Couples responded, wash, rinse, repeat.
