Who are the Governing Bodies who regulate standards in sports massage and sports therapy in the UK?

0

At present there are no governing bodies, only membership organisations such as our own. Some of these purport to be governing bodies but in fact are not government regulated at all, merely self-styled and self-regulating. The HPC or Health Professions Council is the government organisation who regulates medical and allied professions such as nursing, osteopathy, etc. They are now in a position to consider various complementary therapies including sports massage therapy and sports therapy for state registration. (This was previously restricted to a select number of professions). However, for sports massage therapy/sports therapy to become registered, this will require a collective effort from representatives of all sectors within sports massage therapy/sports therapy agreeing to pursue this goal and setting up an independent body to do so.
