Who are the Fulbright FLTA Fellows?
Fulbright FLTA Fellows are young teachers or graduate students with a professional interest in the teaching of English as a foreign language and American studies. In the United States, the fellows serve as teaching assistants in foreign language courses at U.S. universities and colleges. In addition to teaching their languages, fellows typically live in language dorms and facilitate language clubs or language tables. In addition to the academic benefits, the FLTAs and Americans have a unique opportunity to learn about each other’s cultures and customs, thereby enhancing mutual understanding. U.S. Embassies and/or Fulbright Commissions recruit and select FLTAs in their home countries. Participating institutions then receive the dossiers of several candidates that match their requirements and select the FLTA they believe most appropriate for their campus. Candidates are currently being recruited in Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon,
