Who are the dance faculty at the Cornell University Dance Program?
Jumay Chu has danced with the Viola Farber Dance Company and the Lucinda Childs Dance Company, touring the United States and abroad. She taught dance technique and composition in New York, St. Louis, Paris, and Angers before coming to Cornell in 1989, where she teaches dance, dance history, and choreography. Allen Fogelsanger is both Coordinator and Music Director of the Dance Program. A former music director for the Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop / Pennsylvania Dance Theater, he studied music composition with Burt Fenner, Steven Stucky, and Karel Husa; dance composition with David Gordon; and received his PhD from Cornell University in mathematics. He has accompanied dance classes at the Harvard Summer Dance Center and at American College Dance Festivals, and is a member of the International Guild of Musicians in Dance. Janice Kovar majored in dance at the University of Illinois before moving to New York and studying Cunningham technique and Tai Chi Chuan, and performing with Yvo
