At Camp Al-Gon-Quian, we take pride in our qualified, caring staff members who spend their summer ensuring that your youth or teen have a positive camp experience. Our staff members are selected for their experience, maturity, enthusiasm, desire to be a positive role model for children and dedication to our core values: HONESTY, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and CARING. Men and women are recruited from colleges and universities around the country, many of who are former Al-Gon-Quian campers. Our entire staff is CPR and First Aid certified and participate in an intensive training program that covers safety, supervision, counseling and camp procedures and have been screened which includes reference checks, and driving and criminal background checks. A 1:5 ratio of counselors to campers ensures that you child will receive that best care and attention. In 2008, 85% of our staff were returning AGQ staff members and 75% were Al-Gon-Quian campers themselves!

The counselors are largely drawn from camp alumni and college students. Most are musicians themselves.

Our counselor staff is comprised primarily of Stanford students. All our counselors are active in the many campus recreational opportunities. Most of our counselors are varsity, club sport or recreational student-athletes from Stanford and other universities with exceptional backgrounds in athletics and student leadership. In addition, we have a select group of junior counselors who represent the best-of-the best from our community’s high school student-athletes. All counselors are First Aid and CPR certified. We believe that the relationships developed between campers and counselors make the most significant impact on the child’s experience. We encourage the counselors to build a rapport with each child.
