Who are the Columbian Squires?
The Squires is the official youth organization of the Knights of Columbus. Brother Barnabas McDonald founded The Squires in 1925 for young Catholic men between the ages of 12 and 18. There are over 20,000 members in over 1,000 Circles throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Guam. Our Circle was formed in January 1996. Purpose/Goals of the Squires: Brother Barnabas founded the Squires to “give a young man the greatest possible help in making himself the sort of Christian citizen he wishes to become and we so urgently need.” Basically this means that the Squires help young men become more mature, responsible and self-confident by coordinating and participating in a wide variety of service, social, spiritual and family activities.
