Who are the children Invest in Kids reaches?
Invest in Kids scholars have ongoing encouragement and assistance when they face academic challenges, as well as hearty praise and acknowledgment when they excel in their schoolwork. Students are held accountable for keeping their academic credits in good standing in specific, measurable ways; they, their parents or guardians, and their mentors sign commitment contracts each year. If a student performs below his or her ability, a Student Success Plan is implemented with defined target dates for improvement. Students identify their own progress milestones to help them better their academic performance and stay on track for their next grade promotion and eventually graduation. With the support of their mentors, teachers, and families, Invest in Kids students often improve their grades, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
