The Baltimore Ravens used to be the Cleveland Browns. In 1995, Art Modell, the owner of the Browns (and now minority owner of the Ravens), cut a deal with the NFL, Cleveland and Baltimore. One of the conditions of that deal was that he was not allowed to use the name Browns or take credit for any of the Browns’ storied football history, once he moved the team. That’s why the franchise got stuck with one of the stupidest team names in the NFL – The Ravens.
