Who are the Aquarium’s belugas?
• Kavna is the oldest female beluga at approximately 40 years old. She is 3.8 metres long and weighs about 850 kg. • Imaq is the only male beluga and is approximately 21 years old. He is 3.9 metres long and weighs about 1350 kg. • Aurora is also approximately 21 years old. She is 3.4 metres long and weighs about 800 kg. • Qila was born at the Vancouver Aquarium on July 23, 1995 and is almost 14 years old. She is roughly 3.5 metres long and weighs approximately 800 kg. • Tiqa will be a year old on June 10th, 2009. She is the smallest beluga in the habitat and is grey in colour. Her mother is Qila and her grandmother is Aurora. On breeding loan to SeaWorld: • Nanuq is a male beluga and is about 26 years old. Nanuq is Qila’s father; he has been on a breeding loan to Sea World since shortly after Qila’s birth in 1995. • Allua is a female beluga who was moved to Seaworld San Diego, on a breeding loan, in 2005. She is approximately 26 years old.
