Special Constables are volunteers who, after training, work within Safer Neighbourhood Teams alongside regular Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers to help to police their local communities. People either join the Special Constabulary because of an interest in helping their local community, because they are interested in a career with the police, or just because they want to find out more about what policing involves.
