Two First Ladies are buried at Arlington, Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis and Helen Herron Taft. Silent film star Fay Binter, actress Constance Bennett mystery writer Mary Roberts Rinehart, George Marshall’s wife Katherine who was also an author, Admiral Grace Murray Hooper who invented the term ‘bug’ associated with computers and invented COBOL, Major Marie Rossi who was killed during Desert Storm, Ruth Gardiner who was one of the first Nurses killed in WWII and another nurse and author Juanita Hipps who served on Bataan. The first buried there was Mary Randolph a cousin to Mary Custis Lee the wife of General Robert E Lee’s who once owned the land that the cemetery is established on.
