Who are some of the visiting artists who have been on campus recently?
[return to top] RISD hosts more than 200 prominent artists, critics, authors, musicians and others on our campus each year. Recent guest speakers and visiting performers have included Jenny Holzer, groundbreaking installation and conceptual artist; Nicholas Philbert, documentary filmmaker ( Louvre City ); Paolo Soleri, visionary Architect in the field of solar energy; Ann Fessler, photographer and writer of The Girls who Went Away ; Char Davies, pioneer artist in the technology of virtual reality; Doug Kahn, author of Noise, Water and Meat: A History of Sound in the Arts ; whos now pursuing acoustics and electromagnetism under a Guggenheim grant; and Henry Horenstein, speaking at the opening reception of his photographic work, Close Relations . Brown University also attracts a broad array of speakers, and RISD students are welcome to attend programs there as well.
