There are many many folks who are successful who did not go to college. But that’s not the point. College is more than just the sum of the GPA. It opens the world to you. I think it’d be nice if you really watched and nurtured what is best in each of your children. If one is more ‘hands on’ and nuts-and-bolts–then perhaps a vocational school after high school and then into a trade. And if you kid is going to love what he does 95% of the time–Wow! That’d be great. But he should also be encouraged to go to college because you believe he can do well there. And if he yearns to be a Lawyer or whatever–that college would be the way to go. Also, while many do well without college; if push comes to shove–the college grad will get the job and later the promotions, over the guy with high school, V-tech, and or some college classes.
