There are quite many avant-garde painters today. I will just drop some names of younger artists, and you can google the images yourself. Stylistically, there are figurative and abstract painters – anything is possible: Leipzig School: Neo Rauch, Matthias Weischer, Eberhard Havekost, Christoph Ruckhaber More German painters: Daniel Richter, Anselm Reyle, Karin Sander, Katharina Grosse, Frank Nitzsche, Thomas Scheibitz American painters: Dana Schutz, Barnaby Furnas, Kehinde Wiley, Mark Grotjahn British: Gary Hume, Peter Doig, Chris Ofili, Fiona Rae, Christian Ward, Sarah Morris Swiss: Pia Fries, Hans Brändli, Adrian Schiess There are many more. These are only the ones I thought about without much research.
