Who are more Zealous in defence of their beliefs?
Christians- atheists have no set beliefs. [Edit to your responce]- I didn’t say atheists have no beliefs, they are free to believe *anything* they want other than in god (which is inherent in the term ‘atheist’). [/Edit] You don’t get atheists knocking on your doors to tell you that there is no god. You don’t get atheists approaching people on the streets in an organized fashion telling you about the wonders of there being no god. You don’t get end-timer atheists trying to fufil the Apocalypse so that all the theists are killed off. WAY more people have been killed in the name of god than in the name of no god.
Most people are fairly zealous if they feel something that they believe in is being attacked by another person. The debates would never happen if people kept personal beliefs as personal beliefs, and did not try to tell others that their views are wrong. There are ways of debating views without arguing.
I don’t think it makes any difference, who is correct? That’s a much more important question…. I am of my own admission pretty “frothy” it doesn’t really bother me because i use evidence, sound logic and fact…. If we left the fundies unopposed just because we don’t want to look like them we would be very stupid. Being “zealous” or “frothy” really shouldn’t get in the way of the point you are trying to get across, it just means you are passionate about it, and i am passionate about defeating creationism. EDIT: First answer was correct, atheists have no set beliefs, but i took this as being directed towards individuals. EDIT2: It matters to me who is correct… I like the truth. Simple question: Would you rather live your whole life being lied to and have everyone tell you that you were beautiful, or would you rather know the truth, even if it meant you knew you were ugly?
