Who are Medically Needy beneficiaries?
People who have large monthly medical bills may be able to get some help with medical expenses through Medicaid even if their income and resources are higher than the requirements for Florida Medicaid eligibility. These Medicaid beneficiaries may have to pay a part of their monthly medical costs before Florida Medicaid will cover the rest of their medical bills. This is called “share of cost.” The amount of the share depends on the patient’s monthly income and medical expenses. Medicaid eligibility for Medically Needy beneficiaries is evaluated every month.
