Who are leading representative organizations and individuals engaged in court planning for the future?
The National Center for State Courts, through its Knowledge and Information Services, publishes Future Trends in State Courts annually on emerging ideas, issues, and trends in the nation’s state courts. Professional futurists, such as Clement Bezold and James Dator, have applied the tools of their specialization to the courts in presentations, conferences, and occasionally in consultation with individual courts. Their work is available in the Institute for Alternative Futures and Futures Research Quarterly. In addition to these research and consulting organizations, multiple state court systems and individual courts established futures commissions to promote the introduction of court improvements. These initiatives are as described in Charting a Course to Strategic Thought and Action.
