Who are Healthy Kids enrollees?
Eighty-five percent of Healthy Kids enrollees have incomes less than 100% of the federal poverty level, 14% have incomes at 100-199% of the poverty level, and 1% have incomes at 200-299% of the poverty level. Additionally, 41% have lived in L.A. County for 3-5 years, 38% for 1-3 years, and 21% for 5 years or more (Urban Institute, October 2006). Seventy-eight percent of Healthy Kids enrollees are Hispanic, and 6% are Korean. The majority of Healthy Kids enrollees reside in the San Fernando Valley (21%) and South Los Angeles (17%).
