Dr. Joventino D. Soriano (Cytogeneticist) was the one who set-up and formed the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). It was his brainchild. Turning down professorial chair offers from several prestigious universities in the United States, University of Chicago, to name a few, he chose to return to the Philippines and invest his life in the progress of science and technology through this elite group of scientists honored as ‘Academicians’. Dr. Joventino Soriano likewise inspired many young Filipinos to grow in science and technology and aim high as he genuinely believed that science brings forth, all truth about the universe and our existence. His unrelenting commitment to the advancement of science, not only in the Philippines but all over the world, had however, prevented him to share more time with his children. Nevertheless, as a good family man, he was likewise successful in nurturing his children to become the best in their own endeavours.
