First off do classifications. Apple is a fruit so another kind of fruit be it orange or banana of mango is not an indirect competition with apple. Then classify apple as a snack if you take another fruit for a snack in place of an apple then the fruit you take in place of an apple is a direct competition not an indirect one. If you take a cookie, donut, a jelly in place of that apple for a snack then you are taking an indirect competition. Finally look at an apple as a food supplement. So you need to know what are the nutrients of an apple and get a pill that has the same nutrient as the apple then that pill is the indirect competition of the apple.
