Who and what was attacked in the chinese cultural revolution?
In general Cultural Revolution was a coup for Mao to take back the political power that was slipping away. The whole “Revolution” caused a lot of destruction and the victims are the open-minded or intellectuals. For 10 years, the country did not have proper economic activities and education. It was a crude political purges or even a mini-civil war which had poisoned the whole generation. Until late 1970’s when Deng Xiao Ping was in power, and the “Gang of Four” was arrested, then the county slowly got back on track and the economic reform started. China will never achieve what she achieve today if not for Deng Xiao Ping and his open door policy.
