White film and black soot ?
This phenomenon can occur with and without the use of an air purifier. The film is made up of particulate that is floating in the air and it’s presence is not related in any way to the use of ozone or ionization. This particulate settles out of the air and onto surfaces, usually floors and counter tops. Some glass surfaces have a heavy positive charge and tend to attract particulate to them. These glass surfaces are usually mirrors, tempered glass, polarized glass, or “high R” glass used in energy efficient windows. Some “non-streaking” glass cleaners have additives that attract particulate also. This process occurs with AND without the use of ionization. Ionization simply accelerates the rate the dust or particulate falls out of the air. Depending upon the amount of particulate found in your air, it is theoretically possible that this acceleration could cause the film to show up much more quickly than it usually would.
