Whirlpool Washer Is Not Agitating Or Spinning – What Could Be The Problem?
The Whirlpool made direct drive washers which include the Kenmore, Roper, Estate and Kitchen Aid, are washers that don’t use a belt. In other words, these washers couple their motors to the transmissions using a motor coupler. If at the end of the cycle, you notice that washer drain the water out, but it didn’t spin dry the clothes, do the following to see if the washer has a broken motor coupler. Set the timer on the regular cycle and turn the washer on, let it fill and when the motor starts take a look to see if the washer is agitating. If the washer is not agitating and is not spinning, most likely the motor coupler is broken. Another way to thell that is broken is by the noise it makes when the motor won’t start.
