Whilst traveling, which is best, cash passport prepaid currency card or a visa/mastercard debit card?
I recommend a small amount of cash before you go (or at the airport before you depart) and your debit card. It is handy to go ahead and have some cash so you don’t have to worry about finding an ATM the moment you get there. ATMs there will give you the local currency and tend to have much better exchange rates. In addition, many of the larger US banks have alliances with European banks (Bank of America is one) and will waive ATM fees on certain ATMs. However, be aware that some banks may require you to have a special PIN abroad. I recommend checking with your bank about the fees/PIN and to let them know you are traveling so they won’t put a fraud alert on your account. Here are some helpful links.
