Skiing is easier to do initially BUT maybe harder to master. Snowboarding is harder initially BUT much easier to excel in. Simply stated, balancing between two edges is not as difficult as balancing between four edges. There are more micro adjustments between both legs while skiing and leg strength and balance are critical to stay in control. However, you do jump much more in snowboarding so that requires much more jumping ability leg strength. If you grew up on a skateboard then there is a natural transition to snowboarding, the moves are very similiar. Compare skateboarding to rollerskating over a variety of terrains/surfaces and you have your answer. Consider surfing on two seperate narrower surfboards…now you get the idea! Preference may lie in what you enjoy. Both snowboarding and skiing allow you to carve giant S curves and feel those intense G forces.
