Which worth learning 3ds Max Or Maya?

Just for reference, the above answer was wrong, they’re both owned by Autodesk. And you asked what was used most in the CG industry, It’s Maya. Only smaller or more independent companies use 3Ds Max because it’s cheaper to the company. You may want to look into XSI as well, because it has a very strong special effects package called “ICE”. I’m not sure what you meant by general design as compared to modeling and animation. Did you mean you want to learn it all? Because unfortunately I think modeling is definitely best in Maya, but animation is best in XSI. XSI (also called softimage) is also owned by autodesk now as well, so all the major 3D packages are owned by the same company. Like I said, Maya is used most often in the professional world, although you’ll always run into a company that uses 3Ds Max or XSI. I would suggest to you that before you buy any of the software, because it’s so expensive, to download the trial versions. Maya: (just click on free trial)
