Well, antonym mean opposite and synonym means similar so lets look for some synomyms and work backwards: Get – synonyms are: recieve, acquire, acquisition, comprehend, obtain, procure, secure, etc Using those as a base let’s look at opposites – antonyms. Get – antonyms are: lose, lost, illreceived, unrecieved, misunderstand, incomprehensible, unsecured, etc The major problem with a verb or noun like ‘get’ is that it has many many meanings and usages, my Oxford dictionary has 15 pages just about get and its phrasal forms, my Websters has 16 pages, my Longmans has 14 pages and I don’t dare open up my Cambridge “are you sure its big enough?” dictionary to check that out as it would probably run to about 40 pages. There are places you can go to to look for antonyms and synonyms, I’d suggest buying a good theasaurus rather than going on-line as most on-line word stuff is dictionary stuff, definitions and pronunciation, there really aren’t a lot of theasaurii on-line.
