Makes no difference as long as you are consistent throughout the circuit. In EE, we learned the current flowed from plus to minus. In physics we found that the current actually goes from minus to plus. Go figure. [See source.] From an actual physical point of view rather than convention, negative charges (electrons) are repelled by negative charge like the minus end of a battery or generator. So the actual drift of electrons is from the negative pole (cathode) toward the positive pole (anode). It’s been a long time since I was a EE major in undergrad school. So I don’t know if they still insist on assuming the current goes from plus to minus or not.
