its probably too late now I recomend the Donner version, It bridges the gap between Superman I and Superman Returns well. Let us know what you chose and if your friend enjoyed it.

Watch the regular theatrical cut. Not only does it have finished effects and scenes as opposed to Donner Cut’s temp effects and screen test footage, but it’s really a better movie. The Donner Cut is fun to watch as a curiosity, but if you’ve never seen either before, start with the normal one.
