Which US political parties would gain influence if we had a parlimentary rather than two-party government?
All the minor parties would gain influence if that happened. Also, the Democrats and Republicans would fracture into smaller parties. There would probably be four major parties that would result from this: Libertarians, Greens, Populists, and Conservatives (guessing at names that would result), with the Populists being the socially conservative, economically interventionist types that include a lot of the rural religious right as well as blue color Democrats, the conservatives being the people who have the same agenda as the modern Republican party, and Libertarians and Greens being slightly more moderate versions of what they are now, but with many more voters.
