Which UNIX platforms have /uns repositories?
Separate /uns partitions are maintained with binaries compiled for Linux x86 (2.2/glibc 2.1), FreeBSD (3.4), and Solaris (2.2.5/8.0). In addition, there is a single shared repository, mounted as /uns/share, which holds platform-independent files like scripts and Emacs Lisp code as well as transient /uns program state such as lock files. If you’re using a department-supported UNIX desktop on one of the above architectures, you should have an /uns partition mounted on your machine. For user-supported project machines, the machine’s administrator chooses whether to mount the appropriate /uns partitions. If you have a department-supported machine that doesn’t run one of the above flavors of UNIX and doesn’t have /uns, ask the /uns coordinator about creating an /uns partition for it.
