Which U.S. Government Agencies are involved in distributing the money?
The expenditure of money is coordinated by the Global AIDS Coordinator’s office (OGAC), but is distributed through a number of government agencies which include the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health (HHS), the U.S. Department of Defence, the Department of Labor, the Peace Corps and the Census Bureau. Within HHS a number of different agencies are involved including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA), and the National Institute of Health (NIH). HHS manages the central funding for providing care and antiretroviral therapy for HIV positive people, and prevention activities through safe blood programmes.
