No one could have guessed this turn of events. Jodi Applegate and Ron Corning will soon be together again – and at a news desk. The former WNYW/Ch. 5 co-anchors will reteam at Cablevision’s News 12 Long Island this month. Starting Nov. 23, Corning and Applegate will anchor the station’s evening newscasts, a spokeswoman confirmed. Its the first time the two will have worked together since April 2008, when Corning was fired by the Ch. 5 while on vacation. Applegate, who co-anchored “Good Day New York” with Corning, was dropped in September 2008 and replaced by Rosanna Scotto. Applegate joined News 12 in February, as a co-anchor of the 5 p.m. newscasts alongside Scott Feldman and into the evening. Feldman, a veteran of News 12, is expected to retire – totally his decision – leaving the vacancy that Corning will fill.
