Which toxic air pollutants is EPA assessing?
The National-Scale Air Toxics Assessment will help to characterize the potential health risks associated with inhalation exposures to 33 air pollutants identified in EPA’s Integrated Urban Air Toxics Strategy. This includes 32 air toxics that are a subset of EPA’s list of 188 toxic air pollutants plus diesel particulate matter, which is used as a surrogate measure of diesel exhaust. Diesel exhaust is addressed in several regulatory actions and EPA listed diesel particulate matter plus diesel exhaust organic gases as a mobile source air toxic.
