Due to their low protein adsorption, PET membranes are very well suitable for transport studies. For this application, the pores of the membrane must be small enough to prevent cells from passing through. ThinCert cell culture inserts with 0.4 and 1.0 µm pores meet this criterion. In general, membranes with a high pore density (translucent) give better results than membranes with a low pore density (transparent).
