Which tertiary institutions recognize this combination for matric exemption?
At this stage in South Africa (2010) there are many myths floating through the grapevine of students being accepted at universities around the country on not much more than SATS and transcripts. However, we do know of a young man who scored very well on the SAT exam, had a thorough homeschool transcript and had an acceptance letter to a college in the United States. This homeschool graduate is now studying law at a recognised tertiary institution in Gauteng. Other homeschool curriculum providers (ACE for example) offer SATS at the end of the students homeschool career as the homeschool matric. Our suggestion is to parents wanting to go this route of a SAT homeschool matric, is to contact the faculty of the university that you think your homeschool student will be interested in and find out if they will recognize the SAT results and your homeschool transcript.
